Should I Have My Pricing on My Website?

Now that you have your website built and designed itโ€™s time to start talking logistics - specifically related to pricing and whether or not to display it on your website. There is no easy answer to this as it largely depends on your business and what types of services you offer. To figure out what works best for you, here are a few things to consider:

Are your services value based?

Maybe you donโ€™t have a set price for a particular service. It depends on the client and what their needs are. In this case scenario you could give a starting or average price but it might be much more than what someone is willing to spend or appear much less valuable to someone who is looking to spend more. In this scenario, it might be best to keep prices hidden and instead offer a prompt to inquire about pricing via email.

How long have you been in this business?

If you are just starting out, it might be better to wait on prices. See what your audience is willing to spend, and come up with a supply and demand model for yourself. If you oversell yourself then you know you need to up your prices and if you are not getting hardly any clients then itโ€™s time to lower your prices. To avoid constantly editing the price, opt instead to get yourself more established with clients and prices before adding them to your website.

How many inquiries are you getting?

If you currently do not have prices on your website and are constantly getting hit with inquiries for them then it is time to add them! This will eliminate the extra time consuming step of having to communicate with dozens of potential clients just to have a handful who are willing to pay for the service. Adding pricing is going to massively save you time and as a business owner, time is money!

What do you want to do?

While all these things are important proponents to consider, the choice is really up to you. If you feel like your website looks more professional and adds value with visual pricing, then add it. If you would rather leave it off, then leave it off! The choice is yours to make and it is not going to make or break your business either way so do what feels right for you!

โ€œPersonally I choose not to include my prices, mainly because I use value based pricing and every project has a custom quote.โ€

Feel free to play around with different options: adding a few prices, leaving a few out or adding them all and then taking them away to see what clicks most with your audience. Odds are, it wonโ€™t make THAT big of a difference, but a good business pays attention to details, so take the time to create a model that works best for yours!
